Ken passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Hyde Park Memory Care in Flushing, Michigan at the age of 59. He was born to Gerald F. and Mary Margaret (Rau) Krause on June 19, 1965 in Bay City, Michigan. He enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crafting, shopping and spending money. While he was not your average outdoorsman, he enjoyed bicycling, skating and swimming as well as traveling for work and pleasure. Ken was very particular about his appearance, so he very much enjoyed modeling in his early adulthood. Ken’s infectious smile helped him make friends wherever he went during his life, and most importantly, he kept his quick wit and sense of humor throughout his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. He will be truly missed by all who came to know and care for him.
Ken is survived by his dad, Gerald F. (“Skosh”) Krause; sister, Debbie (Steve) Barkiewicz; brother, Michael S. Krause; nephews, Trevor (Stephanie) Barkiewicz and Cory Barkiewicz; great nephews, Corgen Barkiewicz and Nolan Barkiewicz; great niece, Chloe Barkiewicz and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Margaret (Rau) Krause; grandparents, Ernest and Mina Krause and Stanley and Maureen Rau.
Many heartfelt thanks to his caretakers at Hyde Park Memory Care, Active Adult Day Health, Care Team Hospice and previously at Hampton Manor, Charter Senior Living and Close to Home Assisted Living (Raymond St.).
Funeral Service for Ken will take place on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Officiating will be Pastor Eric Stewart.
