Mr. Kenneth Vernon Lefew, age 79, passed away peacefully on February 2026, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. There will be a small memorial for family and friends, with details to be determined.
Born on October 9, 1946, in North Carolina, Mr. Lefew was the son of the late James Douglas Lefew and Captolia Farmer Lefew. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post 53 in Hartsville, SC. Ken retired from Bell South after 35 years of employment as a Lineman.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lefew was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Rich Lefew, and his brother, James “Jimmy” Lefew.
Mr. Lefew is survived by his son, Kenneth Lefew II, and his grand-daughters Sophia Lefew and Isabella Lefew. He is also survived by siblings Dianne Lefew Hannon and Gary Lefew, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for support and care during this most difficult time to the compassionate, caring staff of McLeod Hospice, as well as to the dedicated and exceptional staffs of Wilson Senior Care Morrell Rehab Center of Hartsville, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center of Hartsville, MUSC of Charleston, and MUSC of Florence.
