Kenneth "Ken" Lounsbury from Shawano, Wisconsin died on the morning of Monday March 24, 2025. Ken was born on August 10, 1929, in Orono, Maine to Bliss & Fern Iona (Tarr) Lounsbury. Ken was the youngest of four brothers Bruce, Carl and Frank (died in Japan). They also had a sister named Rosemary, who lived for one day. Even though his dad passed away in his early 50s and struggled with substance abuse, Ken remembered many good days, like when his dad would make root beer in their bathtub.
Ken loved his mother and stayed close to home to help her. It was in his teen years that he and his mother went to a church service and both accepted Jesus Christ into their lives. In the 1955 he attended Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island (now called North Point College) where he grew in great faith and used his gift of singing and guitar playing to serve and minister. There he met Lorraine Louise Larson from Milwaukee, Wisconsin who he married in 1958 after graduating. Loving and Serving the Lord, Kenneth and Lorraine made an impact. Ministering for Teen Challenge in Chicago, pastoring churches in Wisconsin and ministering to children, doing rallies for a week at a time on many of the Native American Reservations. They also supported area churches with their gifts and talents when called upon. Ken always would say it was a privilege and joy to minister and serve. He would witness Gods amazing grace and power. God's blessings are endless!!
Ken and Lorraine adopted two children (oldest) Rebecca at age 2 and Kendall 6 months. They settled in Shawano Wisconsin, where Ken worked for Phoenix garage door for over 20 years and Lorraine work as a care aid in nursing homes and unit clerk at Shawano Hospital until she passed away in June 1993. About a year later Ken was encouraged to meet a wonderful new friend, Lois Marquardt, who also lost her spouse. Ken and Lois traveled extensively, ministering and going on some adventures together for over 17 years. Lois passed away in 2010. (Marquardt is a beautiful family).
Even in loss Ken moved forward with his faith and love for people. He loved being able to sing and share with the many friends and people from different churches he met throughout the years. He loved visiting and calling over the phone to hear his grandchildren. He has left us with an amazing faith led life, for us to continue to with. Thank You Dad for showing us our Heavenly Dad!!!! See Ya Soon!!!!
Ken is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Lounsbury; son, Kendall Lounsbury and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Wadhams Lounsbury; grandsons, Kendrick Lloyd James Lounsbury, Kaleb John Lounsbury and Kyle William Lounsbury.
A funeral service for Ken will be held at 11:00 am on Monday March 31, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until time of service. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
