Kenneth Dale Madison Sr., affectionately known as Ken, passed away on January 20, 2026, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Ken led a life characterized by hard work, passion, and dedication to his family and community.
Ken was born on May 8, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of George and Roma (Young) Madison. Ken graduated from Johnston High School in 1955. Immediately following high school, he served honorably in the Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959. His military service was a testament to his commitment to his country, and it played a significant role in shaping the values he carried throughout his life.
For over 40 years, Ken ran his own carnival, which brought joy and entertainment to many families. His vibrant spirit was reflected not only in his career but also in his love for hobbies such as gardening, playing cards, collecting coins and wind-up toys—earning him the endearing title of "a true collector." He derived great joy from attending and supporting his great-grandchildren's sporting events, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Ken is survived by his beloved siblings, Alan Madison and Pam Vaughn. He is also survived by his children, Ken (Karen) Madison Jr., Kevin (Lynnette) Madison, Kim (Jim) Wolf, and Kelly (Melissa) Madison. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jason (Tiffany) Madison, Alisha Neuroth (Tim Thomas), Kelcy Crane, and Katy (Joe) Stonner, along with eleven great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his significant other, Kelly Freeman, and his parents, George and Roma Madison. Ken also mourned the loss of his siblings, Dean Madison, Lois, Barbara, Dick Madison, and Georgina Brown.
As per Ken and his family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. No formal services have been scheduled at this time.
