Kenneth Marcoux Sr., a man known for his humor, grit, and deep love for family, passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who meant the world to him. Born on June 10, 1958, he was the beloved son of the late Francis X. Marcoux Jr. and Jean (Cahill) Bamberger.
Ken found joy in life's simplest routines-especially when riding his lawn mower with a cold beer in hand and the sun on his back. That was his happy place. Years later, when his son surprised him with a fancy new mower, Ken smiled-but deep down, he missed his old faithful. That mower had character, just like him.
He had a great sense of humor and never missed a chance to make someone laugh. With Ken around, every day felt like April Fools' Day. He didn't take life too seriously and had a way of keeping things light, even when life got heavy.
Ken was a true working man. He held down more jobs than most, always showing up, staying late, and doing whatever needed to be done. He was steady, dependable, and took pride in a hard day's work. If you needed help, Ken was the guy you'd call-and he'd be there, no questions asked.
Ken shared the early part of his life with Janet Leigh Ellison, with whom he built a family and shared many foundational years. Later in life, he found companionship, laughter, and everyday joy with Kim Fera. Together, they created a life full of love and simple pleasures-family dinners, inside jokes, and scratch-off lottery tickets. After many cups of coffee, Ken and Kim would play marathon games of the board game Aggravation-their thing. These games were intensely competitive, full of laughter, and often joined by his mom, who was no pushover either.
The Fourth of July held special meaning for Ken-not only for the fireworks and celebration, but because it was a time when family gathered, laughed, and enjoyed each other's company. That kind of togetherness was what he lived for.
In recent years, Ken bravely battled throat cancer. When he lost his voice, he didn't lose his spirit. He developed a now-legendary click to get the grandkids' attention-and sure enough, they picked it up too. That click became a new kind of family language, passed down just like one of his jokes.
Ken was the kind of man who didn't need much to be happy-just his family, his mower, a cold beer, and a good laugh. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ken is survived by his loving children: Amanda (James) Burkett, Crystal (Matt) Chahine, Kenneth (Sara) Marcoux Jr., and Jacob Fera (Kim's son); his adored grandchildren: Faith Devaney, Layla Devaney, Kenneth Marcoux III, Teagan Marcoux, Brynlee Marcoux, Jasmine Chahine, Hannah Chahine, Alex Chahine, Hailey Delewsky, Jerome Delewsky, Brianna Burkett, Dylan Burkett, Melissa Partin, Logan Burkett, and Kinsey Kochvar; and his beloved great-grandchildren: Colton Partin and Madison Fera; his significant other, Kim Fera; and his dear siblings: Francis X. Marcoux III, Tony (Karen) Bamberger, Jean Marcoux, Patricia (Dave) Stadwick, and Emma (Jim) Hodgson.
Ken was preceded in death by his adored daughter, Heather Marcoux; Kim's daughter, Megan Fera-Kochvar; his siblings, Dwayne Marcoux and Linda (Jim) Brock; and his brother-in-law, Jim Brock.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, May 10, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, with a Sharing of Memories beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Please keep Ken Sr. in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
