Kenneth May Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Deer Park Funeral Directors - Deer Park on Dec. 2, 2024.
Kenneth Wayne May, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, in Deer Park, Texas. Born on February 7, 1949, Ken was known for his servant's heart and unwavering dedication to his family. After retiring 14 years earlier from the City of Houston Electrical Division, Ken enjoyed watching his grandchildren engage in sporting activities, tending his garden, playing the guitar, listening to music of multiple genres, and traveling. His life was marked by integrity and kindness, reflecting his commitment to those he loved.
Throughout his life, Ken was known for sharing his experience with others: engines, construction, electrical circuitry, and sports history. He loved imparting knowledge to anyone willing to ask, and he always had the time and energy to help others with his "free advice." His widespread wisdom will live on through his remaining family, who now must carry the mantle of extending a compassionate hand to those in need. His catchphrase was, "Never pass up a chance to be useful," and he would implore all to follow this advice. Ken's life was a testament to the values of hard work, love, and service. He will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered, by his family, friends, and community.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Ima May.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Gloria May, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Ken was a proud father to his two sons, Shane (Mindy) and Donovan (Natalie). His crown jewels were his grandchildren, Ryleigh (Noe), Zachary (Taylor; mother, Jennifer), Dylan, Harrison, and Ryan; and great-grandson Cristiano.
He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon (Marvin), Gail (Virgel), and sister-in-law Anita (Robert), along with a host of nieces and nephews.

I met Ken about 28 years ago on a jobsite before he talked me into working at the city. He asked to see the screwdriver I was using, tossed it and gave me a brand-new Klein one. Safety and a great memory! After he retired, I learned another side of him through fb as he shared travels and family activities. A real man that will be missed. Condolences to the family. Joe Hanak

Mr. Ken May was a funny caring man. He loved his Gloria and his grandkids. I had the great pleasure to work with him at the City of Houston in 2001. You will be greatly missed. I'm so blessed for the years we got to know each other. May you rest in peace. CRISTY BALKUM
