To know that our brother lived to the age of 59 against all odds, was a remarkable feat to say the least and an understatement. He was not only our brother but also a twin to Kimberly, a bond that was unbreakable and unique. Kenny's presence in our lives gave way to the simplicity that I hope I could someday ascertain-never needing/wanting anything but a caring heart!
As we reflect upon his life, we remember a man who has lived long enough to show that God's infinite wisdom is sufficient. Kenny's life should show us all that an unwavering commitment to his family and friends should always be one of helping each other. Kenny's life should be remembered as an indelible mark on all our hearts.
Kenny had an insatiable curiosity and loved school. I (Valerie) remember as a child, Kenny would run off the school bus and meet whoever was waiting at the front door, ask them "Is school tomorrow?", then go throughout the house to each of us and ask "Is school tomorrow?" even though he would be just getting off the school bus that day. Kenny was born with an Intellectual Disability, but that meant nothing! Kenny knew every one of his siblings and family members that encountered him by their name and their life association to us.
But above all, my brother's greatest pride and joy was his twin sister Kim. The bond between them was more than just shared DNA; it was a bond forged by his commitment and concern for Kim. Kim was his best friend, sometimes we would laugh about how he protected her. Literally, letting people know that they better leave Kim alone-to the point of falling asleep standing up at her bedroom door on many days. The bond he had to her was unbreakable, and I know it will continue to live on even in his absence.
As we mourn the loss of our dear brother, let us also celebrate the beautiful memories we have of him. Let us remember his life lesson of unwavering commitment and dedication. Though Kenny may no longer be physically present, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts and minds.
In closing, let us take solace in the knowledge that our dear brother's legacy will live on through the lives he has touched. Let us honor his memory by living our lives to the fullest. And let us continue to cherish the bond we share as family, knowing that our love for one another will endure even in the darkest of times.
May our brother rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed.
Kenny is preceded in death by his Father James D. McClain, Grandmother "Granny" Viola McClain, Step grandfather David McClain Sr., Paternal Grandfather Wilbur Veeney, Sisters Stephanie Gill and Irene McClain "Minnie', Brother Salaam Muhammed, Nephew Hakeem Gill, and Niece Jakiyah McClain.
Kenny leaves to cherish in his memory his Mother Rebecca McClain, two Brothers Michael (Sharonada) and James (Bridget), five Sisters Mfume Kinchloe (Everette), Michelle McClain, Kimberly Jackson (twin), Pamela McClain and Valerie Cobbs, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and aunts.
