Kenneth McIlrath Obituary

KENNETH RAY MCILRATH Marion Kenneth Ray McIlrath, 78, of Dubuque, formerly of Marion, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Asbury, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Marion Christian Church, 1050 McGowan Blvd., Marion, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Kenneth was born Oct. 20, 1943, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Esther (Hakeman) McIlrath. He graduated from Shellsburg High School. After graduation, he achieved his pilot's license. Kenneth owned a Winnebago dealership for many years. He was employed by the Cedar Rapids School District as a bus driver and retired in 2005. His happiness came from time spent with family and friends, camping, listening to '50s and '60s music, and a good Budweiser or Pepsi. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Kenneth is survived by his fiancee, Kay Oberhoffer of Dubuque, Iowa; three children, Anjanette McIlrath, Gayle McIlrath and Kent McIlrath; and loving extended family members. He was preceded by his parents, his first spouse, Pat; second spouse, Judith; and a brother, Robert. The family would like to thank Hawkeye Care Center and staff for their love and care of Kenneth.
