Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - PalmyraKenneth E. Mellinger, 70, of Hummelstown, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. He was born on December 4, 1954 to J. Carl and the late Phoebe (Blank) Mellinger. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Beth A. (Miller) Mellinger.
Ken devoted much of his life to serving Sovereign Grace Churches. He was a faithful pastor at Living Hope Church for 30 years and, most recently, served as a pastor for three years at Redemption Hill Church in Georgetown, TX. In addition, he provided leadership to the SGC denomination as a Regional Leader and as a member of the Executive Committee.
Before entering full-time ministry in 1990, Ken earned an associate degree in drafting and design and worked in that field. He had a deep love for sports, music, and time with his family. Above all, he will be rememberered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his children, Ryan Mellinger and wife Hollis, Jared Mellinger and wife Meghan, Sarah Herr and husband Brian, and Matthew Mellinger; twenty grandchildren; one great-grandchild with one on the way; siblings, Janet Stoltzfus and husband Merv, Bonnie Montgomery and husband Brad, Joanne Kinderwater and husband Eric, Linda Hambleton and husband Jerry and Bob Mellinger and wife Debbie; stepmother, Pat (Crider) Mellinger; and siblings-in-law, Fred Miller and wife Cathy, Deb Kay and husband George, Doug Miller and wife Dar.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 2 PM at Covenant Fellowship Church, 1 Fellowship Dr., Glen Mills, PA 19342. A time of visitation will be held from noon until the start of the service. Light refreshments will be served both before and after the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
