Kenneth “Kenny” Melton passed away peacefully at his mother’s home on the morning of January 3, 2026 surrounded by his family. Kenneth is survived by his mother Starr Ann (Willie) Kirby, his bother Rocky (Michele) Smith, his uncle Gary (Becky) Melton, and his great-niece Raley Carr. He is preceded in death by his father, Donn Melton.
Kenny was a wonderful member of the Blount County community. The size of his heart was enormous, and he was happiest when he was making other people happy. His kindness is reflected in his large circle of friends and supporters. One of his greatest groups of supporters were his friends at the Blount County Sherrif’s Office. As Kenny overcame many obstacles, they provided friendship and encouragement. And for that, he loved them deeply.
Kenny also volunteered with Blount County Habitat for Humanity for many years before becoming an employee almost 9 years ago. His Habitat family was very special to him, and he worked with them until his health prohibited him from doing so. In lieu of flowers, Kenny requested that donations be made in his memory to the Blount County Habitat for Humanity at the address or website below.
What an honor it has been for his friends to know him and witness his perseverance and strong commitments to those who supported him!
Kenny’s family would like to extend a sincere thank-you to the University of Tennessee Cardiac ICU staff and the UT Hospice Services staff, especially Allison Long and to Kenny’s many friends that filled his last few weeks with joy and laughter. All of Kenny’s many friends are invited to a celebration of life officiated by Brad Bryant and Greg Long at 180 Church on Montvale Station Road on Tuesday, January 13th at 6pm.
