Kenneth "Kenny" Meyer, 71 of Castalia, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 at his home in rural Castalia. He was born November 23, 1953 to Orville and Ora Gene (Oestmann) Meyer in Postville, Iowa
Kenny was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He attended Postville schools and graduated in 1972. Kenny grew up on the family farm in Castalia and that is where he learned and found his love and passion for farming. Kenny lived and farmed his entire life in Bloomfield Township. He loved his land and spent countless hours working it to his satisfaction. He was very involved in conservation.
Kenny enjoyed going to auctions, collecting pedal tractors, toy tractors, belt buckles, antique boxes and other various neat things. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Over the years, Kenny served on the Bloomfield Cemetery Association, Postville Fair Board, Bloomfield Township Trustees and Postville Coop Board of Directors.
Kenny was united in marriage with Rebecca Reierson on June 4, 1991. They joined together four children, Michael Meyer, Allison (Meyer) Bahr, Cory Bacon and Sally Bacon.
Surviving Kenny are his wife, Rebecca; his children, Michael Meyer and Allison (Brian) Bahr; step-children, Cory (Christina) Bacon and Sally Bacon; his siblings, Kathy (Richard) Menne, Beverly Torkelson and Keith (Cathy) Meyer; father-in-law, Robert Reierson; grandchildren, Hunter Landon and Parker Meyer, Prestyn Bahr, Collin (friend, Ezra) Bacon, Clare Bacon and Harper Bacon; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Kenny in death were his parents, Orville and Ora Gene Meyer; sister, Judy Geerts; brothers-in-law, David Geerts and Dave Torkelson; and mother-in-law, Mary Reierson; and many loving pets.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Friday.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Friday, January 10, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant.
Burial will be held following the service at 1:30 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Castalia, Iowa.
Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
