C. Kenneth Mozingo, 88, of Gainesville, TX, passed away on January 13, 2025 in Denton, TX. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville, with Rev. Larry Kremling officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment will take place at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
Kenneth was born January 23, 1936 to Henry and Lucille Trammell Mozingo. He married Barbara Garner Wilson on January 12, 1959. He attended school at Walnut Bend, Gainesville, and Cooke County College. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army for two years and the Army Reserve for three years, stationed at Fort Chaffee, AR and Fort Benning, GA. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Gainesville Lodge 210 AF&AM and Scottish Rite in Fort Worth.
Kenneth's entire career was in the oil and gas energy field. He started as a roughneck on a drilling rig and advanced to driller. Kenneth was then employed by Baker Oil Tools in Wichita Falls, TX and Gainesville, TX. He then was employed by Arco Oil & Gas as a drilling foreman and advance to drilling superintendent in Ardmore, OK, drilling wells as deep as 24,000 feet in the Anadarko Basin. Kenneth retired from Arco, but then started a drilling consulting business with Larry Bussey in Ardmore. They did work in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Louisianna. He eventually retired in Gainesville in 2003.
Survived by: sister Shirley Sexton of Denison, TX; son Kenny Mozingo and wife Lesley of Frisco, TX; stepson Joe Don Wilson and wife Annette of Ardmore, OK; two grandsons and four granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by: parents Henry and Lucille Mozingo; wife of 60 years Barbara Mozingo; son Brian Mozingo; stepson Mike Wilson; and special friend Wanda Huneycutt.
