Kenneth E. Nischan, Sr., 74 of Greenville, SC, formerly of Kreidersville, PA, passed away peacefully on on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC.
Born June 21, 1950 in Cassopolis, Michigan, he was the son of the late Albert Nischan and the late Frances (Barwick) Nischan. He was married to Diana (Wuchter) Nischan for 29 years before her passing in 2011, and a devoted and beloved grandfather to their grandchildren, Luke, Katrina, Levi, and Lucy.
Ken worked as a welder before retiring in 2007, and in his retirement, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, making breakfast for them, walking them home from the bus stop, and watching hours of Spongebob Squarepants and the Wiggles with them. He was a man of few words, but a student of life, often found wandering the aisles of the library, or studying his Bible. Ken was known to give sometimes goofy, but apt advice. He was a fruitcake enthusiast, a talented artist, and an all-around interesting human being, able to offer many anecdotes about a life well-lived.
Surviving are son, Jonathan E. Nischan and daughter-in-law, Ashley, of Greenville, SC, daughter, Danielle Kaufman and son-in-law, James, of Northampton, PA, brother, Norman Nischan of Danielsville, PA, sister, Eva Krevenko of Allentown, PA. 4 granchildren, Luke, Levi, Lucy, and Katrina. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Diana, and his sisters, Patsy Light and Esther Sweet, and brother, John Nischan.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Schisler Funeral Home, Northampton, PA has been entrusted with his care and arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to The Allentown Rescue Mission, care of the funeral home.
