Kenneth Oberle Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 27, 2024.

Funeral services for Kenneth Paul Oberle, 92 years young of Greenville will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville. There will be a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church. He passed away peacefully Monday, March 25, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Ken was born December 13, 1931, in Pekin, IL to Frederick and Helen Johannes Oberle. He grew up on a small family farm in Tazewell County IL and after his morning chore of milking the cows he walked to Pekin High School. After graduation he attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. He entered the Air Force Reserve and was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS where he taught Radar Electronics. After his completion of service, he attended and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he met the love of his life, Myrle Janelle Grimsley.
They married July 20, 1957, and had six children: Teresa McGee, Cindy Tuck (Terry), Susan Evans (Robert), Danny Oberle (Charisse), Kathy Dunavant (Paul), and Stephanie Rester (Hugh).
His grandchildren are Carlisle McGee (Korie), Todd McGee (Lauren), Matthew Tuck, Elizabeth Ann Wood (William), Robert Evans (Abby), Rob Dunavant, Daniel Dunavant (Brooke), Ann Kathryn Crawford (Marshall), Raines Rester (fiancé Lea Merrill Pugh), Jacob Rester, and Alex Rester.
His great-grandchildren are Emma Kate McGee, Mason McGee, Hayes McGee, Christopher Wood, Grant Wood, Pierce Dunavant, Hampton Dunavant, and Holloway Crawford.
He is also survived by two Sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews and Fur- grandbabies Bella Rester, Riley Evans, Natchez Oberle, and many others!
Because of his natural smile, compassion, love of life and others, he became known as "Grinnin' Ken" in which his career in sales and marketing, Veterans Outreach, Teaching, and Health Care Administration came natural to him. He was a Communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served on several committees and councils. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was very involved in the Catholic School System.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrle, grandson Adam Tuck, his parents, and two brothers, Don and Fran.
The family wishes to thank his many caregivers and doctors. In lieu of owers, memorials may be made to Camp Looking Glass, John 3:16 Ministries or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
