Kenneth Palmer Obituary

Kenneth Michael "Boo" Palmer, 59, of Windsor Locks, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in Windsor Locks. Born in Hartford on May 4, 1964, Ken was the son of Clair Ruth (Gallerani) Palmer of Windsor Locks and the late David William Palmer. He was a lifelong resident of Windsor Locks and a graduate of Windsor Locks High School, Class of 1982. After high school, Ken started working for his family's building and remodeling company, Palmer and Sons. He later took a position with the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections. He worked for over 20 years as a CO at Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers, until leaving for health reasons 10 years ago. Ken was a volunteer firefighter with the Windsor Locks Volunteer Fire Department for over 35 years, where he was actively involved in many aspects of the department. He loved going to the firehouse every morning for the meeting of the "Knights of the Roundtable" and catching up on all the goings on in town. Ken was also a member of the Suffield Sportsman's Association for many years and enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors. Most of all, Ken will be remembered as a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His son Aiden was the joy of his life, and he was very dedicated to his mother and his siblings. In addition to his mother, Clair, he leaves his son, Aiden Palmer of Windsor Locks; his brother, David E. Palmer and his partner Susan Nowak of Somers; two nephews, David Palmer of Suffield and Danny Palmer of Enfield; and four cousins, John, Steven, Donald, and Dawn. He also leaves his dedicated friends from the Department of Corrections – Rob, Wendy, Dave, John, Barry, and Wayne; his close friends from the Windsor Locks Volunteer Fire Department – Jay and Billy, and his friend who predeceased him six months ago, Donald H. "Quags" Quagliaroli. Besides his father David W. Palmer, Ken was predeceased by his sister, Cindy A. Liquori, and brother, Mark Palmer. His family will receive friends on Friday, September 8, 4-7 p.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St., Suffield. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 10 a.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home in Suffield. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Spring St., Windsor Locks. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Windsor Locks Volunteer Fire Department, 2 Volunteer Dr., Windsor Locks, CT 06096 or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or by visiting, www.michaeljfox.org. For online condolences please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
