Kenneth Dale Phipps JR

Was born on September 17th, 1961, of Des Moines passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 20th, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Kenneth Dale Phipps, 63, of Des Moines was born to Kenneth and Barbara Phipps. He was the eldest of 7 siblings. Kenny was more than the hard shell that he wore. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. You would never see him without long hair, brown boots, and his famous leather jacket, carrying his cup of iced tea. He had so much love to give but was never opposed to giving you a slap to the back of your head! In his younger years he liked to rock out to Ozzy Osbourne – still wearing his leather jacket! Most of his time was spent watching westerns, collecting coins, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers! (GoPackGo) Every hug was so warm and smelled like Stetson cologne. If you were ever in trouble or just wanted to vent Kenny was your guy. Kenny's presence will truly be missed by all those who loved him.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Carrie Phipps, and his children Justin (Tana) Darling, Wendy Kent, Kenneth Dale Phipps III, Heather (Roy) Pruett, Melissa (Brandon Richardson) Phipps, Ozzy Phipps, Jimmy Phipps, grandchildren Tristan Darling, Pinkielee Fedson, Gabe Darling, Allen DeVan Jr, Kenzie Jorgenson, Cayden Jorgenson, Jayce Richardson, Levi Richardson, brothers Joseph (Lucy) Phipps, Shawn (Chelsey) Phipps, Brett Phipps. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Dale Phipps SR., mother Barbara Ilene Phipps, sisters Vickie Lee, Debbie Franke, brothers Christopher Phipps, Robbie Phipps, and uncle Steven Sanders.

A grave side service will be held Thursday, July 24th, 2025, at 11am at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur drive, Des Moines, a Celebration of Life is to follow from 12pm–4 at the American Legion Post #731, 1511 S. Union St, Des Moines, IA 50315
