Billy J. Phipps

Billy J. Phipps, 79 of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 at Logan Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 23, 1946 in Clintwood, VA, the son of the late Charles and Helen Phipps.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Barton Savage.

Billy enjoyed being outdoors and took great pride in working with his hands. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, and he built a career as a skilled master electrician, known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. His dedication to his craft and his love for the outdoors were a big part of who he was.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra Phipps; two sons, Brett J. Phipps and Kevin T. (Laura) Phipps; one sister, Gaynell Savage; two brothers, Paul (Gail) Phipps and Ronald Phipps; three grandchildren, Natalie Phipps, Martha Phipps, and Levi Phipps; step grandchild, Jonathan Pittman; three nieces, Shelia, Regina, and Tammy; two nephews, Chad and Timmy; and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Freeman Funeral Home with Grant Blair officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 6:00PM-9:00PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
