Newcomb & Collins Funeral Home, P.A.Kenneth “Kenny” Emerson Plummer, 78, of Cambridge, Maryland passed away peacefully, on Sunday July 13, 2025, at his home with his daughter Michelle by his side.
He was born on September 10, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Emerson Plummer and Sadie Calloway Plummer.
After moving to Cambridge, he worked at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center where he met the former Norma Cluff who became his wife on June 25, 1967. The two were married for 39 years until Norma’s passing in 2006. Together they had one child, Michelle Lynn Plummer.
Kenny later began a long and storied career with the Dorchester County Highway Department. He retired in 2005.
He was a member of Bay Country Church in Cambridge.
Kenny was a long-time member and past President of the Cambridge Jaycees. He enjoyed serving his community and helping people. During his tenure as a Jaycee, Kenny was given the highest honor in the State of Maryland, “Maryland Militia”. He was also bestowed the title of “Senator” which is the highest honor within the United States organization.
Kenny was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed bowling competitively and playing softball. He was a devoted Orioles and Ravens fan and passionate about coaching youth baseball.
He was a larger-than-life character, a true Dorchester County legend, beloved by all who knew him. He will be truly missed.
Kenny is survived by his daughter, Michelle Lynn Plummer, sisters Patricia Robinette and Gloria Nethkin, sister-in-law Margie Byrd (Marshall), along with several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved kitties. The family also wishes to recognize a special friend and caregiver, Dena Wanex and a unofficial daughter, Kimberly James.
In addition to his parents, Emerson and Sadie Plummer, Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Norma F. Plummer, grandson, Christopher Alan Plummer, brothers-in-law, Edward Robinette and Vernon Nethkin and sister-in-law Shirley Cole, nephew Brian Nethkin and niece Debbie Nethkin Devan and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday August 8, 2025 beginning 12:00 pm. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, Cambridge. Visitation with the family will take place two hours prior. A fellowship gathering will take place immediately following the service at the Elks Lodge #1272, Cambridge. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
