Kenneth Poff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alexandria Funeral Home on Feb. 23, 2026.
Kenneth E. Poff, age 95, passed away February 21, 2026, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Ken

was born in Pennsylvania and was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the

Pittsburgh Pirates. However, he was surrounded by many who rooted for the Cincinnati

Bengals and the Reds.

A kind, humble, reserved man, Ken spent the last three years at the Summit of

Edgewood in the memory care wing, where his favorite caregivers would encourage him

to get out of his room, and another nicknamed him "Secret Agent Man" for his quiet

nature. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV, even bowling.

Ken liked to recall his formative years in the Keystone State, which included setting pins

at the local bowling alley, creating a makeshift golf course in the railyard behind his

house and serving as a caddy. When he graduated from high school, he became a

millworker at the same silk factory where his dad worked, but he knew that was not his

calling. And so, he joined the United States Air Force and retired to Florida after twenty

years of service. His early assignments took him to New Mexico, Colorado, Washington,

DC, Vietnam, Japan, and Libya.

It was in Japan that he would meet a young Japanese woman named Eiko, who caught

his eye. After he received his base commander's permission to marry outside his race

(in the 1950s), Ken and Eiko tied the knot in Tokyo. They welcomed a son born in Japan

and would later have three daughters born stateside.

Ken and Eiko were married for forty-eight years before Eiko's sudden passing in 2005.

Their son Willy died unexpectedly seven years later, followed by their son-in-law

Kenneth McCall in 2017.

Ken is survived by daughter Diana Plehn, son-in-law Lieutenant General (USAF retired)

Michael T. Plehn; daughter Sally Rowe, son-in-law James Rowe, grandson Logan

Rowe; daughter Susan McCall; sister Nora Jane Beaver and brother-in-law Carson

Beaver; and several nieces and nephews.

As per Ken's wishes, there will be no formal service, and he will be cremated and laid to

rest at Florida National Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made online to the

Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org) to help support their mission.
