Kenneth passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023. He was 74 years old and died in a care facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Kenneth was born March 22, 1949 to Layton L. Rayl and LuJean Peterson Rayl in Lehi, Utah. He was the first born child. He is survived by 3 siblings and their spouses: Claudette Rayl, Sharon Wilson (William), John Rayl (Stephanie) and Michael Rayl. He has 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren: Lissa (Melissa) Lander (Kris) and 3 children; Rosabella, Wylie Jack, and Iris Love. He is proceeded in death by his parents Layton Rayl and LuJean Hardy, brother Randall S. Rayl and ex spouse Julie Matthies.
He lived his whole life in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1967. He attended the University of Utah and received his degree in Electrical Engineering in 1972. He was involved with Thermotuff with his father. He spent the latter years of his life with many major health concerns. He had a stroke in 1999 and diagnosed with diabetes. He had his eye sight restored with cataract surgery. He had a heart surgery bypass in 2010. He spent his life very simply taking care of himself, playing Sudoku, keeping currant on news and love of sports, mainly football and basketball. He was very picky eater and only ate a few things. He had a fabulous memory and knew family names and birthdates. As a child and youth Kenneth was a fabulous pianist and played with the Pocatello Orchestra at age 12. He had the fastest hands and used to type 90 words per minute. His favorite response to how do you feel was with my hands or I don't know. We'll miss him greatly.
We will have a memorial service Friday September 22, 2023 at Holbrook Mortuary 3251 SO 23RD E Salt Lake City at 10:00 AM, viewing with be at 9:00 AM. Internment at Lehi Cemetery at 1PM.
