Kenneth Paul Schleiger April 10, 1950 – October 13, 2025
Kenneth Paul Schleiger, 75, of Mesquite, Nevada, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a valiant battle with cancer on October 13, 2025.
Ken was born on April 10, 1950, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Paul and Wilma Schleiger. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Ken served with distinction during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.
Following his military career, Ken spent over three decades with the Union Pacific Railroad Police Department, ultimately retiring in March of 2011 as Deputy Chief of Police. He was respected for his strong leadership, integrity, and steady commitment to the safety of others.
On September 30, 1978, Ken married the love of his life, Nancy, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. One of their greatest shared joys was traveling the country in their RV, exploring new places and creating cherished memories.
Ken was a man of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a lifelong Lutheran and found comfort and community in his faith throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy Schleiger; his children, Lindsey Schleiger, Holly Kirby(Christopher), and Jeffrey Schleiger; his sister, Kay Richardson (William); and is fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Wilma Schleiger.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Mesquite Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors will take place at Fort Douglas at a later date.
Ken will be remembered for his honorable service to his country, his distinguished career in law enforcement, and most of all, his deep love for his family. His legacy of strength, service, and compassion lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
