Kenneth Roy Schott

Kenneth Schott, 61, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on January 3, 2024. His parents were Don and Edna Schott (Baber) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He was born in 1962.

Ken graduated from Milwaukee Trade & Technical High School. Ken joined his then brother-in-law Ellis Gorden in a decades-long partnership in several business ventures. Ken served as general manager of Centranz for many years, contributing significantly to the success of the business. Constantly seeking solutions to industrial problems, he applied his self-taught technical and troubleshooting skills to teaching others.  Ken gave his time generously, teaching several mechanics and engineers over the years, providing a livelihood for many of the people whose lives he touched.  He had an amazing mind for numbers – he could spout off a twelve-digit part number on a thirty-year-old transmission from memory.

Ken thoroughly enjoyed his time on the land he owned.  He put his love of forestry into action there, working diligently to master the art of splitting wood.  He loved the idea of friends and family coming to enjoy the beauty of his land.

Known as "Uncle Ken" by family and friends alike, Ken expressed his generosity in many ways from sharing a bag of clementines to an open invitation to his land.  His campfire tales were the stuff of legend. Ken was a master storyteller, perfectly capturing the mannerisms of those involved. It was hard to believe that he had lived through so many crazy experiences! He loved real fires that burned real wood and fireplace potatoes were his specialty.

When he moved to Kansas City in 1979, he became an integrated part of his sister Evie’s family. Uncle Ken was a welcome addition to every birthday, Christmas, and important event.  He loved to entertain the Milwaukee crew.  They often traveled to Kansas City and stayed at Ken’s house. Ken truly enjoyed watching his great nieces and nephews explore Kansas City, especially his land. Until his mother died, Ken talked to her every day. He spoke to his brother Doug every evening.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents Don and Edna and his brother Dennis. He is survived by his sister Evie Kalvelage (Doug), brother Doug Schott (Debbie), sister-in-law Sandy Schott, seven nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held on January 27th, 2024, at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Visitation is at 10AM.  The service starts at 10:30AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree.
