Kenneth Schultz Obituary

Kenneth Charles Schultz passed away peacefully with family at 3:16AM September 29, 2025. One last breath, and then welcomed into the peace and love of our Heavenly Father.

Kenny: Catholic, Son, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and Friend to Everyone. Born in 1932, Ken, with his siblings, farmed a North Dakota family homestead.

Graduating from Glen Ullin High School in 1951, life was an open book. The pages filled quickly with the love of his life, Lorene "Renee" Barth. In 1953 they married. For 71 years, through thick and thin, they were in love. Ken and Renee - what could have been better. Watching them love each other, the world was given perfect role models.

Knock on their front door and Ken's big smile and a loud "Greetings" would welcome you. Nobody went hungry at the Schultz's. Ken and Renee put on feasts and fed any and all who showed up. Anyone who needed a place to stay, the bed was ready. Family and friends were their happiness.

As stated in his High School Annual, he wanted to be a truck driver. He nailed it. With a "Million Mile" safe driving award, he earned his place in Trucker history. He also did diamond core drilling, sanitation work, oil delivery and operated his own "Ken's Hauling" business to provide for his family. Somehow during his long working hours, he managed to coach the Barstone Blazers PeeWee baseball team.

Ken was a lifelong student and teacher. He was learning about electricity, taking night classes learning about HVAC, or simply studying the old west, his curiosity was contagious. He fostered an environment that encouraged learning.

Ken was a builder. He built buildings, furniture, friendships and family. Most of all he built people. When we stumbled, Ken was at his best. He would listen without judging. He would understand with love. He would provide guidance with mercy and deliver soft accountability through the healing process. And when it took 100 times to solve the same issue, the process was the same. Ken built people.

We miss you. We Love you. Go Zags!

A tremendous thanks to Horizon's Hospice, helping Ken and family navigate his end of life journey.

In lieu of flowers, our family asks you to please shine like our Parents Ken and Renee. Be kind. Be compassionate. Love unconditionally. Laugh hard, and laugh often. Work with purpose. Serve each other with selfless joy.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 3423 E. Carlisle Ave, Spokane, WA 99217. A committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall St, Spokane, WA 99208.

Please share your memories of Ken on his tribute wall.
