Kenneth Leon Spurlin

Kenneth (Kenny) Leon Spurlin, affectionately known to many as "Chillz," was born on November 9, 1985 in Plainfield, N.J. He resided with his family in various locations within Middlesex County and he attended schools in Edison, New Jersey. Kenny's life was a vibrant blend of creativity, compassion, and authenticity that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
After graduating from high school Kenny continued his education at a Pharmacy Technical School, demonstrating a commitment to continued learning and personal growth. He went on to work in his field and to inspect surgical instruments as an equipment inspector. However, it was through music that Kenny truly found his voice. A passionate lover of Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock, and many other genres, Kenny immersed himself in the rhythms and wrote lyrics that spoke to the soul. He channeled this passion into writing songs and performing under the name "Chillz," crafting verses that reflected both his inner world and the world around him.
Those who knew Kenny remember him as kind-hearted, gentle, caring, honest, funny, deeply loyal and loving. His warmth and humor brought light into every room he entered. Kenny's love was described as unconditional-a testament to the strength of his spirit and the depth of his connections with others.
Kenny leaves behind a devoted family who cherished him deeply. He is mourned by his mother Tracy Spurlin; father Kenneth R. Spurlin; sisters Brandi Spurlin; Bria Spurlin; grandfather George Kerr; grandmother Wesaline Hopson Kerr; aunts Sandy Kerr Young, Dorothy Kennedy (Thomas), Lissa Spurlin, Zahra Jiwani; uncles George Todd Kerr, Anthony Kerr, and Jimmie Eldridge; cousins Sean Goins, Taylor Young, Ashley Dewalt, Aliyana Eldridge; along with a host of beloved relatives and cherished friends whose lives were touched by Kenny's presence.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Fanny Wickware and paternal grandfather Leon Spurlin.
Kenny's legacy lives on through the music he created and the love he gave so freely. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire kindness in others.
