Kenneth Guy Stokes

Ken passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 29, 1963, at McKay-Dee hospital in Ogden, Utah to Don and Linda Stokes. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He grew up in Kanesville, now West Haven, playing in the fields with his brothers, sister, and friends, staying out until dark. They used to ride motorcycles and throw cow pies, play sports, build forts, work on the farm, terrorize their babysitters, and so much more. He caused chaos everywhere he went. He had many great memories of all the survivals and camping trips they went on. Ken also loved picking apples in his grandma’s yard and eating them with salt. He spent many afternoons after school watching tv shows like Lawrence Welk with his grandma, he was very close with her.

Ken earned his Eagle Scout Award as a young 13-year-old. He attended Hooper Elementary, Sandridge Jr. High, and graduated from Roy High School and Seminary, class of 1981. His favorite classes were agricultural sciences. He married Julie Thompson on May 7, 1983, they have four children and five grandchildren. Ken had a tender, loving heart. He was always willing to bend over backwards to help someone in need.

Ken spent his career working at the family business, Ad Craft Signs. He retired in 2022. He was one of few people left who could work neon tubing, everything from signs to glass sculptures. He was very skilled at hand painting, vinyl, wood working, and building letters. He was very talented and incredibly artistic. His work is still scattered all around Utah.

Ken also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and farming. He loved raising his pigs, pheasants, and dogs. He was always extremely proud of his multiple gardens and his yard. People always complimented him on how beautiful his gardens were. He was very passionate about his hobbies and gave them his all.

He is survived by his wife Julie and his children: Teran (Corey) Ogden, Jayson (Travis) Stokes, Justin (Megan) Stokes, and Jessica (Zach) Bogue. He was also a proud grandpa of five grandchildren: Rhys, Waverly, Benji, Lennox, and Thomas (not yet arrived). Ken is also survived by his parents Don and Linda; brothers Mike (Billie) and Ron (Chris) Stokes, his sister Dianna (Todd) Egbert and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

It can’t be put into words, how much he will be missed. Family and friends are invited to a viewing, funeral, and graveside service. The viewing will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Lindquist’s Mortuary in Roy, Utah from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Riverbend Ward, 3628 S 2700 W, West Haven, Utah. Following the funeral a graveside service at West Haven City Cemetery will be held.
