Kenneth “Ken” Timothy Sullivan, 82, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, surrounded by his family during his last hours.
Ken was born on May 17, 1943, in Salina, Kansas, to Robert and Elinor Sullivan. His family soon moved to the Denver area, settling in Cherry Hills. He grew up with his siblings, Jim, Robert, and Kathleen “Tudy,” and attended Cherry Creek High School. Ken went on to graduate from Gonzaga University and earned his law degree from the University of Colorado.
Following law school, Ken served our country for four years as a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps, exemplifying the dedication and integrity that would characterize both his professional and personal life. He went on to have a distinguished career as a corporate lawyer in the banking industry, earning respect for his expertise, professionalism, and fairness. An excellent communicator, Ken spent many years after retirement volunteering as a mediator, helping others resolve conflicts with thoughtfulness and understanding.
Ken was an avid reader and a gifted tennis player who approached both life and leisure with curiosity, discipline, and passion. His quick wit and warm sense of humor, often delivered through his trademark “dad jokes”, brought laughter to everyone around him. A devoted Gonzaga basketball fan, he cheered on the Bulldogs with the same enthusiasm he brought to everything he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth Sullivan; his five children—Tim, Mike, Jon, Matt, and Kelly; and his sister, Kathleen “Tudy” Sullivan. Ken was most proud to be “Grandpa” to his 18 grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Ken’s faith was an important part of his life. He and Mary were active members of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish, and both served as Eucharistic Ministers.
A funeral Mass held in his honor will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mother Cabrini Shrine Chapel in Golden, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Ken’s memory.
