Kenneth M. Whittaker

Waverly - Kenneth M. Whittaker age 57, born in Endicott, NY on July 7, 1963, went to heaven on Tuesday March 30, 2021. He passed away at home peacefully in his sleep.

He was predeceased by his mother Sylvia (Mettler) Whittaker and sister-in-law Laura (Pangborn) Whittaker. Ken is survived by his father Harry (Joyce) Whittaker and three brothers Dan (Christine Fehrenbach, fiancé), Jim (Sue) Whittaker, and Mark (Eve) Whittaker. His one niece and eight nephews; Aubrey (John) Dillon, Jake Longo, Jesse Whittaker, Lucas Whittaker, Phillip (Stephanie) Whittaker, Casey (Sara) Whittaker, William Whittaker, and Christopher Whittaker. His three grand-nieces and one grand-nephew; Giavanna Longo, Carter Dillon, Alexa Dillon and Aera Whittaker. His uncles David Mettler and Alan Mettler. His aunts Esther Whittaker and Evabell Snow. And his best friend Tim (Joann) Voorhees.

Ken was a proud Marine. He served in Okinawa for two years, where he learned to speak Japanese, but only he could translate what he was saying. If you ever traveled with Ken, he would gladly point to everyplace there was a flea market. He loved to go to flea markets and buy knives or anything else he could find. He worked at Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) in Waverly, NY or over 38 years. He loved working for them. They were like his second family. He was a large presence both literally and figuratively. He would light up the room with his warmth and sense of humor. Ken was a loyal brother and friend. He always had your back. He truly will be missed by all his family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday evening, April 9th from 5-6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Kenneth M. Whittaker. Ken was a strong supporter of this organization. Donations can be made by phone: 877-832-6997, by mail: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Ken would come in some weekends to our local gym. He would always come with a smile and something sarcastic ( I would always have something smart ready to say back so we both would laugh) He was always so funny and nice. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends during this time.

So sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. He was one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. I grew up with Ken in grade school and always enjoyed our times together, especially at one of our last HS reunions. Ken also was a big part of my musical career when he’d be a bouncer for myself and my band. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
