Kenneth Wiginton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jan. 6, 2026.
WIGINTON, Kenneth D., age 76, of Springboro, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Miami Valley Hospital- Main in Dayton.

Kenneth was born on August 26, 1949, in Refugio County, Texas, to Thomas and Billie Wiginton. He graduated from Woodsboro High School in Woodsboro, Texas, class of '67. He attended Austin Community College, where he earned an associate's degree. Following his education, he built a long and dedicated career with Eastman Kodak, where he worked in quality control for more than 20 years before retiring. Kenneth took pride in his work and was known for his attention to detail.

In his free time, Kenneth found great joy in woodworking, especially crafting porch swings and step stools. One of his most meaningful creations remains on display in the town square of Woodsboro, Texas, a porch swing he proudly built alongside his niece, a lasting symbol of both his craftsmanship and his love for family. Dancing was another true passion in his life. Kenneth loved ballroom, country, swing, and nearly every style of dance. He proudly competed in events through the United Country Western Dance Council. Gardening also brought him peace, as he enjoyed growing both vegetables and flowers.

Kenneth had a deep love for travel and adventure. He cherished camping trips, memorable journeys throughout the United States, and traveling abroad, including time spent exploring Europe. No matter where life took him, family always remained central. When living in Texas, he made a point of visiting everyone he could, and after moving away each winter, he looked forward to returning to reconnect with loved ones.

Kenneth was outgoing, friendly, and truly never met a stranger. He lived as a minimalist, valuing experiences and relationships over material things. He also gave generously of his time, volunteering at the TRI Therapeutic Riding Institute riding stable in Spring Valley, where he found fulfillment in helping others. Among many things, Kenneth will be remembered for his passion for dance, his skilled craftsmanship, his love of travel, and the genuine warmth he shared with everyone he met.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Billie Wiginton, and his sister, Linda Danford. He is survived by his son, Thomas Wiginton; his grandchildren, Travis and Lisa Wiginton; four great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Billie Sue Dunnivan and Patty (Bill) Baugh; a special friend, Judy Vincent; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

I didn't really know Kenneth, but if he was anything like his family, he will be missed. May you rest in peace Kenneth.

To the family of my cousin Ken, I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My heartfelt thoughts are with his son and sisters during this painful time. May the memories of love and laughter you shared bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead.

I met Ken through his great grandchildren and their parents (Alex and Frenchy). To say he was a treasure is just not enough. He always spoke calmly, kind, with purpose and could carry on a conversation about anything. I truly enjoyed talking with Ken at every holiday dinner, birthday party, or random visit I got to be part of. His love for his family was so evident and the joy from his great grandchildren was always written on his face. I will miss hearing his stories of youth, dancing, volunteering and the excitement when talking about his latest adventures. Ken will surely be missed.

Ken was a kind man who always made me laugh. I have only known him for about four years. We met on the dance floor, but served together for 3 seasons working the consessions at the Dayton Dragons baseball games where the proceeds from our efforts were donated to a veterans charity. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. May happy memories console us all. ~Tia Maurer
