Bustard & Jacoby Funerals, Cremations, Receptions - CasperKenneth Miles Wright was born on April 18, 1945, in Brecksville, Ohio, to Adelbert and Beatrice Wright. He passed peacefully in his sleep and went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 18, 2025.
Ken attended elementary school in Brecksville, Ohio, junior high in Bedford, Ohio, and high school in Morrisonville, New York, and Casper, Wyoming, graduating from Natrona County High School in 1963. Shortly after, he worked in various fields before joining the United States Navy in 1965.
Following his service, Ken became a journeyman pipefitter and was a proud 50-year life member of Local Union 192. His career took him across the country, where he built a reputation for skill and dedication.
On December 20, 1971, he married Margaret Ann Chaput, now Margaret (Phil) Vasquez. Together they were blessed with two sons, Jordan Kenneth Wright and Daniel Joshua Wright.
Ken was a devoted father and loving grandfather, affectionately known as “Pops.” He treasured time with his grandsons, especially cheering them on at their wrestling matches. If he couldn’t attend, he made sure to watch their competitions streamed from home.
For the past 17 years, Ken shared his life and many adventures with his beloved companion, Lena Hernandez. He became a cherished part of Lena’s family, just as she became a cherished part of his. Ken stayed active with hunting, ice fishing, skiing, and more.
Ken was also a founding partner of Douglas International Raceway, where from 1985 to 2002 he played an instrumental role in its development and operation.
Blessed with creativity and an exceptional work ethic, Ken earned the nickname “MacGyver.” He was a gifted welder and skilled in many trades, including plumbing, carpentry, tinwork, auto mechanics, and bodywork. Always ready to lend a hand, he poured his talents into projects for friends, family, and even strangers—never turning down a request for help. On occasion, he took on projects for himself, such as restoring classic vehicles or sewing seat cushions for his ice fishing hut, affectionately named The Admiral’s Barge. His selflessness, generosity, and steady presence defined him.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his companion Lena Hernandez (Casper, WY); sister Kay Kunckel (Casper, WY); brother Karl (Sharon) Wright (Carlsbad, NM); son Jordan Wright (Laurel, MT) and grandson Jacob; son Dan (Abby) Wright (Casper, WY) and grandsons Caleb, Drew, and Gavin; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ken’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering support will live on in the many lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held at Bustard’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Celebrate Recovery via Highland Park Church.
