Kenneth B. Young

Kenneth B. Young, 66, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

He was born on January 10, 1959, in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Abraham and Iris (Fitzhugh) Walker. Kenneth graduated from Elmhurst High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University.

On August 2, 1980, he married Georgia Ealy in Fort Wayne.

Kenneth worked as a Chemical Engineer for Tate & Lyle, where he was dedicated to his craft and respected by his colleagues. Outside of work, he had a true passion for coaching. He spent many years coaching football and track for West Lafayette School Corporation, where he encouraged, motivated, and mentored countless young athletes. He took great pride in helping students grow both on and off the field.

Kenneth also enjoyed fishing, grilling, and golfing. He loved simple moments outdoors, good food, and time shared with family.

Surviving are his wife, Georgia Walker of Lafayette; his children, Brad Walker of Fort Wayne, Cequoya Wallace (Josh Wallace) of Plainfield, and Jordan Walker of Los Angeles; his brothers, Edward Young and Dennis Young, both of Fort Wayne; his grandchildren, Lyric Barva, Ciana Walker, Aveion Walker, Jakobe Wallace, Jaylon Wallace, Jabari Wallace, and Aaliyah Wallace; and his great-grandchild, Athena Barva McCarty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carlos Young, and his sister Anita Gwendolyn.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN.

A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Wesley Campbell officiating.
