Robert “Bob” Axe, age 92, a resident of Portland, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026 at his home.
Robert was born March 30, 1933 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of Harold and Mable (Montgomery) Axe. Robert graduated from Elmhurst High School on 1951 and served in the United States Army during Korea. He was a lifelong farmer in Jay County and attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland. He was a member of Farm Bureau in Portland.
Robert married Dwanna Moneysmith on March 31, 2000, and she passed away on May 21, 2018.
Survivors Include:
3 daughters: Debbie Wolf – Indio, California
Linda Axe – Las Vegas, Nevada
Pamela Axe – Carmel, Indiana
3 step children: Jodi Mathews – Ridgeville, Indiana

Jeff Rowles
Friend and caregiver: Sherri Davis – Portland, Indiana
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Green Park Cemetery in Portland with military honors by Portland American Legion Post 211.
