Kenneth Walter Zeuner, 92, of
Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Philadelphia on December 19, 1932, Ken graduated from Haverford High School in 1948. Shortly after marrying his high school sweetheart, Jean Bowman, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Japan during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge. Their first son, Steven, was born while Ken was stationed abroad, followed by Thomas two years later.
A self-taught engineer with no formal education beyond high school, Ken became a pioneering inventor in the field of electro-hydraulics, primarily designing valves used for agricultural applications. Over his distinguished career, he earned 39 patents and consulted on projects for NASA and the defense industry. At the height of his success, his innovative valves were used by every combine manufacturer in North America and half of Europe. A successful entrepreneur, Ken founded four companies, most notably Control Concepts, a family business he operated alongside his sons until his retirement.
Ken was profoundly devoted to his family. He was especially committed to providing his grandchildren with the opportunities he never had, taking an active role in their education and broadening the family's horizons through adventures across the United States and Europe. Ken and Jean shared a passion for world travel throughout their retirement until her passing from leukemia in October 2009. In the years that followed, Ken shared his life with former wife and constant companion Eleanor Zeuner.
Ken is survived by his sons, Steven Zeuner and Thomas Zeuner; his daughters-in-law Pamela Larsen and Carol Zeuner; his grandchildren, Keith Zeuner, Kellyn Zeuner, Andrea Zeunstrom, and Courtney Regan; his great-grandchildren, Emerson Jaspan, Rosemary Zeunstrom, Owen Regan, Juniper Zeunstrom, and Grace Regan; and his companion, Eleanor Zeuner. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean.
