Kent Vincent Carleton, 78, of Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday July 13, 2025 at home with his loving wife by his side.
Kent was born on September 27, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Milton and Aurea (Gogen) Carleton. He grew up and attended school in the Mt. Clemens area, and then served as a SP4(T) in the Army from 1966 to 1968. Kent worked as a balancer for Ford Motor Company from which he retired. On May 23, 1969 in Mt Clemens, MI, Kent was married to Gayle Mary Atkins. The couple moved from Troy to Houghton Lake 23 years ago. Kent was a member of the Houghton Lake Global Methodist Church. He enjoyed boating, camping and especially biking. He was a volunteer with A.R.K. for several years.
Surviving Mr. Carleton are his loving wife of 56 years, Gayle M. Carleton of Houghton Lake; three sisters, Cheryl (Charles) Hastings of FL, Diane(Rob) Clippard of FL, and Renee Carleton of FL; three brothers, Craig (Ann) Carleton of FL, Kevin (Mary) Carleton of GA, and Scott (Katherine) Carleton of FL; several nieces and nephews; and his canine buddy, Petey. Kent was preceded in death by his parents; sister, April; and brother, Brian.
Military Services for Kent Vincent Carleton will be conducted at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holy. Memorial contributions in memory of Kent are asked to be directed to the A.R.K.
