Kent Daughtrey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory on Feb. 17, 2026.
Kent L. Daughtrey, age 77, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2026 at his home. He was born the son of the late Paul Alfred Daughtrey and Doris Garringer Gregory on December 7, 1948, in Columbus. Kent was a lifelong automobile enthusiast. Raised in Wilmington, Kent was a proud graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1966. After high school he served in the Airforce for 2 years and then the reserve. The relationship with his stepfather became one of Kent's most meaningful. The two worked side-by-side in the wrecker and towing business, and Kent deeply admired him not only as a mentor but as family. Their partnership shaped much of Kent's life and career. He loved automobiles in every form and could spend hours talking about engines, makes, and memories tied to the road. His love of animals matched his love of machines, and he always had a soft spot for any creature that crossed his path. Kent maintained his friendships with people he met along the way from Wilmington to Hillsboro. In his later years, he especially enjoyed spending time on his computer, reconnecting and staying in touch with the many people who meant so much to him. Kent was a member of both the Hillsboro Am Vets and Eagles Arie #1161. He is survived by his sister, Karen Daughtrey of Hillsboro; 1 half-brother; 2 nieces; 1 nephew and one aunt, Sara Jane Noes of Bradenton, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and stepfather, Charles Gregory; along with many aunts and uncles. There will be no formal visitation or memorial services for Kent except for in the hearts of those who loved him. Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
