Britton, SD: The memorial service for Kent Oland will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Britton. Pastor Jesse Carson will officiate the service.

Kent Rolf Oland was born on November 6, 1963 to Melvin and Kay (Severson) Oland. Kent grew up in Britton, SD and spent lots of time roaming the prairies on grandma and grandpa Severson's farm near Havana, ND. He attended Britton Elementary and High School. As a boy, he was active in Boy Scouts, hockey, football and church youth group. Following high school he went on to attend North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, earning his certificate in auto and diesel mechanics.

As a young man, Kent worked at John Morrell in Sioux Falls, SD, where he met the love of his life Treva Stelzer. They moved back to the Britton area and made their home on Clear Lake and were later married. They later moved to Britton when Brandon and DJ became active in sports and extracurricular activities.

As he got older he had a passion for bow hunting and golf and for refurbishing. There was nothing that he couldn't fix.

Kent is survived by his daughter, Autumn (Karsen) Holland and their children Carter, Crue, Kenzlie and Kash; sons, DJ (Kalissa) Stelzer and their children Jase, Brek, Onyx and Reya and Brandon (Melissa) Stelzer and their children Rylie, Payton, Harper and Mason; mother, Kay Oland; sister, Karna (Donny) Trombley; and brother Kevin (Lynn) Oland.

He's also survived by his nieces, Devin (Jared) Marzolf and their children, Kayla (Alex) Heroff and their child, Kenzie (Cam) Marthaler and their children and Maddie (Joe Bentley) Casciano.

He was preceded in death by his wife, father, and paternal / maternal grandparents.

Kent was the kind of person that Jesus calls all of us to be. He showed love and kindness every day. He was a friend to all. He was not judgmental and always the first to lend a helping hand with no expectations in return. He put others before himself right to the end, and deeply felt compassion and empathy for anyone suffering or less fortunate. He was not interested in wealth or status. He cherished his family. He cherished the simple things in life.

We will always remember his kindness, smile and sense of humor. We take comfort in knowing that he is free from earthly suffering and has been reunited with Treva in heaven.

Kent passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 at his home in Britton, at the age of 61.

Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Kay Oland – PO Box 223 – Britton, SD 57430.
