Ramona J. Marlow

Britton, SD: The visitation for Ramona Marlow will be 3:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Olson Funeral Chapel in Britton. There will be a time of sharing at 5:00 p.m. to conclude the service.

Ramona Jane Swenson was born October 15, 1937 in Britton, SD to Stinus E. and Eldeva K. (Constantine) Swenson. She grew up in the Hillhead area and attended rural country schools. Her family later moved off the farm into Britton and Ramona began working at local cafes. She was one of nine children, so she also helped her mother with caring for her siblings when her father passed away.

While working at the café in Britton she met Louis "Augie" Marlow. They were married on October 1, 1955 and were blessed with four sons. They made their home in Britton until 1968 before moving to Pierpont, SD.

Music was always important to Ramona. She could play the accordion and loved bringing it out at family gatherings to play for family and friends. She played in a band for a number of years. Along with her love for music was her enjoyment for dancing.

She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching and loved flowers. Ramona was an excellent cook and was known for her famous donuts and homemade popcorn balls every Halloween. She had a special way with children and very quickly became Grandma Mona to many of the neighbor children. She loved her family and was a proud grandma and Gigi.

Ramona passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Marshall County Healthcare Center in Britton, at the age of 88.

She is survived by her sons, Rocky (Emily) Marlow, Rod Marlow, Shane (Kari) Marlow and Blaine (Kelly) Marlow; her grandchildren: Zach Marlow, Courtney (Tim) Beran, Blaine Marlow II (Emma Polchow), Dylan Meek and Madisyn Meek; great-grandchildren: Leni and Ellie Beran; her brother, Zane Swenson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Augie; her parents, Stinus and Eldeva; her brothers: Bob, Jim, Rogue "Phil', Dale and Dennis; and her sisters, June Holey and Gloria Haaland.
