Kent Painter

Kent H. Painter, 80, of Fort Collins, CO passed away on August 1, 20. Kent was born on September 23, 1942, the eldest son of the late Richard Kent Painter and the late Dorothy White Painter. Kent grew up in Lincoln, RI, and graduated from Classical High School, where he played football and basketball. In 1964, Kent graduated from the University of Rhode Island and married Loretta Mastriano. They lived in Indiana while Kent studied at Purdue University, where he earned a PhD. Kent and Loretta moved to Fort Collins in 1973, where they raised their two daughters and established the Western Chemical Research Laboratory. Kent was a dog lover and an avid Denver Broncos fan. He also enjoyed skiing, cruising, and racing cars around tracks in Colorado. He loved working on cars, collecting them and racing them, especially the Daytona 24 Hours. He was a longtime member of the Sports Car Club of America and the National Hot Rod Association. He is survived by his two daughters: Debbie Painter Montefusco (David) of Cranston, RI and Jill Painter Lopez (Ricardo) of West Hills, CA. He also leaves behind two sisters: Jean Painter Pelland of Jensen Beach, FL and Marjorie Painter Rickey of Hobe Sound, FL.
