Kent Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Healey Funeral Home - Haddon Heights on Mar. 30, 2026.
Kent R. Smith, 73, of Haddon Heights, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, after a brief illness. Born December 17, 1952, Kent spent his entire life in the town he called home - a place that was lucky to have him.

Kent was, above all else, a man who loved deeply and gave freely. He shared his life and an unconditional, devoted love with his beloved wife, Deanne (Aruanno) Smith. Together they built a family that was the heart of everything he did.

A proud member of the Pipefitters Union Local 322, Kent worked hard his entire career - and hard work was simply part of who he was. Whether on the job or off, he was the person you called when something needed to be done, and he showed up every single time, no questions asked. He was a man of remarkable skill and creativity, always ready to lend his hands and his heart.

But what people will remember most is his spirit. Kent was an amazing dad - present, devoted, and deeply loved by his girls. He was the ultimate jokester, a big kid at heart who never missed a chance to make someone laugh. Don't forget the bunny ears. He was the kind of man whose kindness you felt the moment you met him, and whose warmth stayed with you long after you said goodbye.

Kent is survived by his devoted wife, Deanne Smith; his daughters, Alexis Roberts (DJ) and Krista Hurley (Ryan); his grandchildren, Emily Staples, Elijah Staples, and Alice Roberts, and Declan and Colin Hurley; his brother, Bruce Smith; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edith (Holloway) Smith, and his brothers, Dean and Scott Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, May 8th at 11:00 AM at the Healey Funeral Home, 9 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ, where his Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) followed by a luncheon in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association may be made at alz.org in Kent's name.

He was the kindest, sweetest man. And he will be missed in ways that words can't quite hold.
