Kermit Wopsock, age 47, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away October 19, 2023 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Kermit was born March 5, 1976 in Roosevelt to Henry Franklin and Ingrid Louise Kochampanasken Wopsock.
Kermit was a dedicated father, grandfather, uncle, brother, nephew, friend and companion. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, shed hunting, camping and taking rides with his family in the mountains. He guided and worked with UIT Outdoor Rec.
Kermit was a people person, he had a great sense of humor and could talk to just about anyone. He often checked on elders, shoveled snow in the winter, assisted with any maintenance they needed. Kermit supported and mentored many youth with sports and education. He volunteered as a coach for Tri Utes, he helped create the Utes Wrestling Club, he was active in his children’s activities.
Kermit was an advocate for the Ute Indian Tribe he served on several boards, commissions and committees. He was involved in the planning and development of the Initial Point of the Special Meridian Monument in 2018.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Christina (Korbin) Casen (Destiny N) Wopsock, Shaylen Vincent, grandchildren: Zaiden “Man Cub”, Zariah Wopsock, his siblings: Rosetta (Quinton) Serawop, Waylon (Jovy) Angelias, Marlen (Emmy) Murdock, Devin (Dalena) Ward, Braxton (Gaylene) Wopsock, Derrik Lira, Mathius Wopsock, Bobby Redcap, Sr., Melvin Redcap, Sr., Leanna and Melinda Wopsock, Cerone Harris, June Gardner, aunts and uncles: Ronald (Cindy), Lana (Leslie H) and Merla Wopsock, Leslie (Erwin) Trujillo, Corrina Tassitise, Albert Large, Kay (Theron) Wells, Nancy Thompson, Jane Taveapont, Catherine (Earl) Manning, Vivian Bedonie, special nieces and nephews: Brianna, Lae Chelle, Henrietta Chapoose, Jordilyn Moreno, Jaylen, Peyton, Christian and Ian Angelias, Patrice (Jason) Spain, Brandon Paez, Mataya and Damien Angel and Caige Hinshaw, and other nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, John and Letha Wopsock, Carrie C. Thompson, Henry Kochampanasken, siblings, Shana M Wopsock, Raymond Cornpeach, aunts and uncles, Carl Dean, John Jr., Roland Kermit “Dick” Wopsock, Maureen W. Large, Floyd and David Wopsock, Zina A Starr, Gloria Wopsock, Sonya A. Wopsock, Karnel and Jenny Murdock, Mary M Ward, Roger Kochampanasken, Sr., Gregory and Raymond Taveapont, Rosemary Thompson, great uncle, Henry Wopsock and great aunt, Rose Van.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building.
