Kevin Birkin Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 7, 2023.
On the morning of May 29th, 2023, Kevin (Scott) Birkin, of Raleigh, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 62. He was born in Boulder, Colorado and was the eldest of three children born to Vergean and Joanne Birkin.
As a child, Scott lived in Boulder, Colorado until his father moved the family to Raleigh, North Carolina, to be a professor at Meredith College. He grew up loving to play sports such as baseball and football and even won some skate boarding and ping pong competitions as a teenager. He also loved the outdoors and especially fishing, camping, and adventures with Outward Bound.
Out of school he would find his first job at Winn Dixie, as an assistant produce manager. This is where he would meet and later marry his true love, Angie Higgins, and they had three children. He moved from Raleigh to Knightdale and then ultimately to the Fayetteville area where he enjoyed working on a farm and attending church in Hope Mills.
He is survived by his sons, Robert (Barbara) Birkin, of Mt. Olive, NC and Kevin Sean (Sarah) Birkin, of Bradenton, FL.; daughter, Angela Kristin Birkin, of Grantham, NC; grandsons, Gavin and Grayson Birkin, of Mt. Olive, NC; granddaughter, Hailey Birkin of Bradenton, FL; sisters, Linda Tigges (David Dodson), of Raleigh, NC and Kristin Haines, of Raleigh, NC; as well as a niece and nephew, Kayley Tigges and Isaac Tigges, of Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vergean and Joanne Birkin.
The family will have a service on Saturday, June 10th, from 10-11 and then a celebration of life at his parents house in Raleigh following the service.
