Kevin Earl Clegg March 18, 1976 - August 31, 2025 A bright light unexpectedly left this world on August 31, 2025 with the passing of Kevin Earl Clegg. He will forever be cherished and remembered for his Fun, Feats, Family, and Focus of Faith. Fun. The fun of Kevin's life began on March 18, 1976, when he bounded into the home of Earl and Marian Clegg of Orem, Utah. Kevin loved his parents dearly, along with his two older brothers and younger sister. Kevin's exuberant ways were evident throughout his growing-up years; he was beloved for his good-natured demeanor, as well as his hilarious (and often mischievous) sense of humor. Kevin never forgot the words to his school song at Orem Elementary. At Mountain View High School, he had the unusual distinction of lockering at the principal's office-an "honor" he took full advantage of by grabbing a soda frequently from the contiguous Teacher's Lounge. And when it came to piano lessons, Kevin never quit; his piano teacher quit him :). Kevin brought his fun personality to the mission field in London, England. He absolutely treasured his mission experience and worked exceptionally hard. He was joyful in his approach and made sure to not let anything get in the way of him teaching people the gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, he and his companion once figured out how to disconnect the odometer from their car-and to purchase extra cheap fuel from a military base-in order to not run out of their allotment of mission vehicle miles! Feats. Kevin graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History from Brigham Young University. After managing his dad's machine shop for several years, Kevin started his own business selling auto engine parts in many different countries. Because of Kevin's background in history and his knowledge of current events, he was able to easily relate with and carry on conversations with customers throughout the world. Kevin was a terrific salesman. Kevin enjoyed pushing himself physically. He competed in several triathlon events and even conquered many Ironman races. He couldn't get enough of road biking and swimming in particular (and he would do the running part of a triathlon more out of obligation :)). Kevin looked forward to the LoToJa bike race every year and has even podiumed at the event. Kevin was humorously known for-and loved to joke about-his exceptionally large "coconut" calves. Family. After college, Kevin was set up on a blind date with Taylor Halladay. The two formed an instant connection on their first date from the moment Kevin comedically convinced other people in line with them at The Mayan Restaurant that Taylor was one of the performing divers. Kevin "robbed the cradle" and married Taylor on December 29, 2000. The two have been inseparable ever since-including taking walks together every morning and evening in Kevin's final months. Taylor has unquestionably been the love of Kevin's life. They were true best friends and each other's person. Each of the Clegg children brought indescribable joy to Kevin. He loved to run around and play with his children: Parker, Ava, and Ruth. Something he never figured out how to say to them was "no" :). He was always engaged in what they were doing. They all describe him as an amazing dad and as their best friend. Kevin was so proud of each of his children and would do everything he could to make their day-including once convincing the Tooth Fairy to plunk down $100 for a Ruth tooth! (The Tooth Fairy later wrote a note requesting a refund of $95 for overpayment :)). Kevin rejoiced in his son Parker's mission to France Lyon and Florida Orlando. And just two days before his passing, Kevin dropped off his daughter Ava at the Missionary Training Center as she has been called to serve as a full-time missionary in the Florida Tampa Mission. Ava has poignantly and powerfully felt that Kevin will now be one of her "angels round about … to bear [her] up." (D&C 84:88) Focus of Faith. Kevin's life focus was always serving others. He was extremely humble and didn't realize how much he impacted others in a positive way-in part because living this way was second nature for him. He had a gift for noticing people and for quickly forming meaningful connections, even with complete strangers. Kevin always had a soft place in his heart for those with special needs or who were different or out on the margins. Kevin was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life, and he served in numerous callings. He has a deep and abiding love of Jesus Christ, and like the Savior, Kevin was always outward focused and "went about doing good." (Acts 10:38). During the last six months of his life, Kevin suffered tremendously from chronic pain and sleep deprivation. Yet he didn't complain and he never turned hard-hearted toward God in the midst of excruciating trials and unspeakable mental anguish. Shortly before his passing, Kevin wrote, "I have never doubted God or my testimony." Kevin's legacy of love and kindness have been profound, and his light and influence for good will be enduring. Funeral services for Kevin will be held at 10:00 am MT on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the Highland South Stake Center, 9626 North 6800 West, Highland, UT, 84003. Some of Kevin's friends will be riding LoToJa the day after the services and will be carrying some of Kevin's ashes with them in his honor.
