Edwin Hemphill Obituary

On November 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, Edwin (Ed) William Hemphill courageously lost his battle against Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and slipped peacefully home.

Ed was born June 8, 1954, in Mesa, Arizona to William Stanley and Mary June Hemphill.

He spent his childhood years roaming the streets of Mesa enjoying the carefree life of a young boy. His teenage years were spent in upstate New York where his adventuresome spirit continued but his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ took root and deepened. After high school graduation he attended Dixie State College where he pitched for their baseball team.

He served a mission in Ireland for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and upon returning home attended BYU where he later graduated. It was at BYU where he met and married his eternal companion, Kathleen Sherratt. They were married August 8, 1980, in the Salt Lake City Temple and together were blessed to raise 6 cherished and amazing children.

He started his career at Honeyville Grain and worked there for 39 years, 28 of which were spent overseeing the Rancho Cucamonga facility. During that time, he participated in his favorite activities: raising his children, attending sporting events, becoming a 'true Dodger's fan' and coaching softball, baseball, soccer. In 2015, he was transferred back to Utah to become CEO for Honeyville. He then retired in 2020, though the Honeyville passion continued to burn.

He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in multiple callings throughout his life, but his favorite was that of a primary teacher. He was passionate about many things: the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his country, Honeyville (Grain), BYU football, the Dodgers, coaching, umpiring softball and last but certainly not least, his family. Most Saturdays were spent attending a sporting event, a concert, or a recital of one of the grandchildren. He was a devoted dad and grandpa, who saw only the best in each of his children and grandchildren. He loved his Sunday night family get-togethers and didn't let a family member off easy when they couldn't come.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Lowell Sherratt, Jr.

He leaves behind his wife of 45 years (but friend for 50) Kathleen and his greatest treasures Tenille (Stephan) Moss, Tristan Hemphill, Tiffani (Ryan) Jackson, Tyson (Haley) Hemphill, Tanner (Kallie) Hemphill, Taylor (Luke) Nethercott, 16 grandchildren and a devoted sister Mary Ann (Mark) Erdmann.

While cancer may have taken all his dignity, it couldn't take his fighting spirit; a legacy which he will leave behind in each one of his children and grandchildren. He fought hard with each breath until the very end. We would like to thank the Huntsman Cancer Teams, particularly Dr. David Wada and DNP Marianne Bowling as well as the many incredible doctors and nurses that helped with his ongoing care over the last 7 years. Additional thanks to ICU nurses Zoey and Katelyn who helped us through a very difficult time.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Myers Mortuary 205 S. 100 E. Brigham City, UT. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. An additional viewing will be held the following day, Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the Brigham City West Stake Center, 895 North 625 West, Brigham City, UT. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be in Brigham City Cemetery.

We will definitely miss our husband, dad, grandfather, brother, friend and coach. We would love to hear how Ed impacted your life and ask that you would please add to his legacy by uploading photos and memories to the memorial page. We love you Ed- "God be with you 'till we meet again."

Condolences, memories, and pictures may be shared with the family on his Remember Page: https://www.myers-mortuary.com/obituaries/edwin-hemphill
