Kevin Michael Dean

Kevin Michael Dean, 70, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026 at home with family by his side. Born September 24, 1955 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Norman Richard and Sylvia Ann (Geiger) Dean.

Growing up in Allen County, he graduated from New Haven High School with the Class of 1974. On March 6, 1999, he married Jeanmarie "Jeannie" Strain. Kevin lived a life marked by dedication to his work, devotion to his family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Kevin built a long and successful career in Sales and Marketing with PHD Inc., where he worked for over 40 years before retiring. His professional life was characterized by commitment and consistency.

Outside of work and family, Kevin enjoyed playing pickleball, home improvement projects, and could often be found working outdoors or hunting for antiques to add to his collection. He enjoyed traveling that enriched his life with new experiences and memories shared with loved ones.

Kevin was a caring husband and a proud grandfather who found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren- especially during family trips to Disney World. These moments were among his most cherished.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Jeanmarie; his children, Bryan (Danielle) Smethers, Angie, and Tara; his brother, Kerry (Kenyetta) Dean; his sister, Connie Sieverson, and grandchildren: Kyrea, Brenleigh, Hudson, Aubrey and Bennett Smethers. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Sylvia Dean.

A memorial service will begin at 3 pm Saturday, February 21, 2026 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, Columbia City with a gathering of family and friends starting at 12 noon. Pastor Shane Wilson of New Hope Wesleyan Church will be officiating.

Memorial donations may be given in his memory to either Parkview Whitley Hospice, or for trees to be planted in Kevin's memory locally through the Columbia City Tree Board in care of the City of Columbia City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
