Kevin William Devine, age 73, of
Cambridge, MN, passed away peacefully at M Health Fairview Northland Hospital,
Princeton, MN, on January 8, 2026.
Kevin was born July 17, 1952 in
Minneapolis, MN, the fourth of twelve children, to Ronald and Elizabeth (Betty) Devine. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Robbinsdale, MN, and confirmed at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, North Branch, MN.
Kevin graduated from North Branch High School in 1970 and then attended Pine City Vo-Tech to study welding; he worked at various jobs in Harris, Wyoming, Cambridge, and Princeton.
He resided at the family farm near
Harris, MN, then moved to Cambridge in 1995. Upon his retirement he moved to Ashland Place in Cambridge until his health weakened and he went to Elim Wellspring Health Care in Princeton. After contracting influenza he was sent to M Health Fairview Northland Hospital.
Kevin was a "Happy-go-lucky" Irishman proud of his Irish heritage and was someone who would give you the shirt off his back not expecting anything in return. He was kind and generous - a true "mensch" - making his agate rock necklaces and bolo ties for his family and friends. He was an avid "Rock Hound" attending rock shows around the State, buying, trading, and selling his treasures.
He was a voracious reader and a steady visitor at the Cambridge Library and Scout and Morgan Bookstore. With his eclectic interests and vast knowledge, he was quick to share facts and figures with all and was often referred to as a "walking encyclopedia" by his family and friends.
He will be missed by his many, many friends in the Cambridge community.
Kevin loved puzzles and word games of all kinds and was an ace at the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles, an activity he often shared with his mother.
One of Kevin's great loves was music. He had a huge CD collection of all genres - country, classical, rock and roll, blues, Americana, Irish traditional - you name it, Kevin had several CDs of it. His favorite pastime was going to hear his long-time good friend, Kenny Krona, play at various local venues; and often joked about being Kenny's "roadie" helping him with his equipment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Brian, and sister Bridget.
Kevin is survived by his siblings: Patrick (Patricia), Kathleen (John) Carlson, Terence (Mary Hoch), Daniel, Eileen (Matt Quast), Maureen (David) Dewey, Colleen, Sheila, Margaret, and sister-in-law, Juliann Benson; 14 nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and nephews, 4 great-great nephews and niece; and many, many cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service is planned for later in the spring.
