Kevin Mark Dumke

Kevin Dumke, age 64, of Hendricks, MN passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 after fighting cancer this past year. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 13th at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Tuesday, November 12th at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Hendricks, MN. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be St. Thomas Moore Catholic Cemetery in Brookings, SD. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Hendricks is entrusted with the arrangements.
Kevin Mark Dumke was born on June 5, 1960 in Belmond, IA. He was the son of Allen & LaVonne (Juenke) Dumke. In 1967, the family made Hendricks their home on the farm which had been in the family since the 1880's. During this time, Kevin found his true calling, which was working the land. He attended Hendricks High School and after graduation he continued to work the family farm with Allen and Keith for approximately 8 years, adding his own land to the mix for several years. During this time, he began his long career of 30 years in the refining and fuel operations industry. He took several different roles during his career, from leadership and management to safety and operations, and always embraced each day with an opportunity to deliver his best work. While working at the ethanol plant, he continued to farm his own land along with Allen's and some rental ground. He loved the land and working it. - from planting, watching them grow, harvest and fall tillage. This fall, he even did some field work during his final days to make sure the fields were put to bed for the winter.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle, Kevin dedicated his life to his family. He married the love of his life, Kathryn, on June 21, 1996, in Brookings, SD and embraced her children as his own. They also shared a beloved dog together named Nicodemus, also known as Puppy who was a steadfast and sweet companion.
Kevin first became a grandfather in 2011 and found such joy spending time with his grandchildren, especially sharing his love of farming by giving tractor rides. Kevin loved all things western including classic western films, books and catching up on the latest Yellowstone episodes. He loved the outdoors and could often be found working on a piece of machinery or researching the latest farming trends. As an early riser, he always appreciated a beautiful sunrise to start the day.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Camden (Katie) Munson of Elkton, SD, Kasia (Stanley)Thiele of Minnetonka, MN, Kelsey Juenke (Nick) of St. Louis Park, MN, his grandchildren: Adalyn of Rochelle, IL, Daisha, Eian, Haven, Irving and Emersyn of Elkton, SD, Kenley and Anton of Minnetonka, MN, Oliver of St. Louis Park, MN; and his siblings: Keith (Tammy) Dumke of Hendricks, MN, Karla (Tim) Minahan of Crooks, SD, Brian (Mandy) Dumke of Sioux Falls, his father Allen (Wanda) Dumke of White, SD, along with a number of nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Dumke and his mother LaVonne Maye Dumke.
