Kevin Gannon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallingford Funeral Home - Wallingford on Jan. 26, 2026.
Kevin Edward Gannon, "Papa", age 84, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 23, 2026. For 63 years, he was the loving husband of Marilyn Scalesse Gannon.

Kevin was born October 16,1941 in New York, NY, a son of the late Edward and Loraine Uhen Gannon. Kevin was raised in Wallingford from a very young age and remained a resident until his passing. Kevin attended Fairfield University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. It was on the daily train rides to Fairfield, where Kevin and Marilyn met.

Upon graduating in 1963, Kevin began his professional career in automotive sales at Barberino Pontiac in Wallingford, where he remained until 1969. It was then that he took his sales skills to a brand-new dealership, Robert's Chrysler Plymouth in Meriden, where he eventually became General Manager until his retirement in 2007. Kevin was known in the industry, brokering fleet deals with many companies, including the Connecticut State Police and the United States Postal Service.

When Kevin retired, he and Marilyn took up a second residence on the Island of St. Maarten, where they spent 12 glorious years. It was on the island that Kevin's retirement career began in real estate. Just as with his success and notoriety in the car business, Kevin was well-liked and frequently called upon. As with his life in Wallingford, Kevin had countless friends on the island, many of whom he was still in contact with.

Kevin was a loving husband, father, and papa. Nothing brought him greater joy than the time spent with his family, especially his granddaughters, his pride and joy, supporting them in any way possible. Above all, Kevin was known for his loyalty, kindness, gentleness, generosity, and quick wit. He will be missed by many and is leaving a void that cannot be replaced.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children; Edward P. Gannon and his wife Theresa of Meriden, David V. Gannon and his wife Nadine of Wallingford, and Kelly G. Franceskino and her husband Tony of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Rose Gannon, Barbara Gannon (Brandon), Kayla Gannon (Nick), Jenna Gannon (Robert), Gianna Gannon, Monica Vumbaco (Rob), and Melissa Franceskino; his great grandson, Geoffrey Brys; his brothers Michael Gannon (Evelyn), Timothy Gannon (Eileen), and Patrick Gannon (Janet), sister-in-law's Cathleen Gannon and Patricia Scalesse along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends and his island cat Marmalade who never left his side.

In addition to his parents, Kevin is predeceased by his brother Denis Gannon, his in-laws, Vincent & Mary Scalesse, and his brother-in-law, Charles Scalesse.

Kevin's family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Elliott Miller and the team at the Cardiac ICU at Yale for the exceptional care they provided.

Kevin's family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Friday, January 30th, from 6:00 – 8:00pm. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday, January 31st, at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian burial at St. Benedict of Nursia Church of the Resurrection campus at 10:00am. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.

Oh, so many memories! Kevin was such a sensitive, caring , generous friend. I'm remembering so many times sitting around the kitchen table with Marilyn and Kevin's contributions to our discussions. . . sometimes welcome, sometimes not. He was such a good friend! He provided the limo for my wedding and the hearse for my mother"s funeral in addition to good advice on dating, car purchase, the man's point of view, and so much more. A wonderful friend!
