Kevin I. Gleason, 55, of Felts Mills, New York, passed away on November 6, 2025, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse following a brief and courageous battle with aggressive cancer.
Kevin was born on November 13, 1969, in Watertown, the son of Kenneth E. and Reba (Marcellus) Gleason. He was a graduate of Watertown High School. After graduation, Kevin began a lifelong career working alongside his father in construction at KEG Masonry, which later became known as Gleason's Septic and Drain Service. He assisted his father in operating Gleason's Mobile Home Park and Gleason's Gateway Motel. Kevin also owned and operated Gleason's Handi-Cans for more than a decade.
Kevin loved spending time outdoors. Every fall you could find him out deer hunting with his father and in recent years alongside his brother. During the summer months it was a guarantee you could find Kevin either cruising in his boat on Lake Bonaparte or kicking up some dirt in his side-by-side with his beloved companion, Amber L. Kipfer. He was also a member of the Felts Mills Fire Department for a time, where he served his community with pride.
Kevin was so full of life and believed every day was a new adventure. He was always there for his family and friends when it mattered most and never expected anything in return. Kevin could make anyone laugh and was always up for a good time. He was often the one doing crazy stunts, keeping the laughter going.
Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin I. (Jessie) Gleason II, of Felts Mills, NY; his daughter and son-in-law, Brittany A. (Travis) Thomas of Lowville, NY; and six cherished grandchildren: Madelyn and Mackenzie Thomas, Maevin, Konnor, Ransom, and Lillie Gleason; his beloved companion, Amber L. Kipfer, and her three children, Jonathan Kipfer, Mason Kipfer, both of Carthage, and daughter and son in law, Alice (Dominic) Barresi of Ohio; and her three granddaughters, Samarah, Lillith, and Penelope.
He is also survived his stepmother, Cynthia "Cricket" Gleason of Black River; three sisters, Dawn Stephenson and Sarah St. Laurent, both of Black River, and Leoni Miller of Copenhagen; two brothers and a sister in law, his twin Kenneth (Tyrien) Gleason III of Black River and Justin Miller of Alexandria Bay; as well as several nieces and nephews. Kevin always considered Greg Snyder a beloved friend and brother.
Kevin was predeceased by his father, Kenneth E. Gleason, and his mother, Reba Miller.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bruce Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 PM.
Burial will take place in Felts Mills Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
