Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bruce Funeral Home - Black River on Feb. 14, 2026.
Linda M. Simmons, 56, of Carthage, passed away on February 13, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 17, 1969, in Ogdensburg, she was the daughter of Clark L. and Shirley J. (McPherson) Simmons Sr. She was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. Following her education, Linda worked for various local businesses in kitchen management before beginning a long and dedicated career in food service at St. Lawrence University, where she was still employed at the time of her passing.

Linda met her longtime companion, Kirk S. Davis, while he was serving in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Drum. The couple had been together since 2008.

She enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially trips to the casino. Linda and Kirk were members of the Northern New York Shuffleboard Association and spent many happy hours playing together. She recently became a member of Order of the Eastern Star - Bethany Chapter No. 343.

Linda is survived by her longtime companion, Kirk S. Davis; his daughter, Christina Davis; and two grandchildren. She is also survived by five siblings: Clark L. (Ellen) Simmons Jr. of Norfolk, NY; Scott Simmons of Ogdensburg, NY; Shirley T. Atteyeh of New Jersey; Cheryl Simmons of Texas; and Peggy Simmons of Texas; along with several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, "Fat Cat".

She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Diane Simmons; and a brother, Joseph Simmons.

Arrangements are entrusted to Bruce Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 131 Maple Street, Black River, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the spring at Purmort Cemetery in DePeyster, NY.
