In Loving Memory of Kevin Joseph Green

November 30, 1948 – July 18, 2025

Kevin Joseph Green passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Russell Green and Therese Marie Green.

He grew up in the Marquette Park neighborhood of Chicago, attended St. Adrian's grade school, Hubbard High School, and later Lewis University. A proud veteran, Kevin served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Green (née Fleischmann); his stepdaughters Christine Ortiz (Angel) and Carolynne Kent (Christian Weihprecht); his Siblings Therese Green-Ryan (Ken) and Paul Green. He was preceded in death by his sister Rita Toomey(Jerry).

He was a proud uncle to Britany Green (Brian), Paul Green Jr., Patrick Toomey, and Jack Toomey. He was a Great Uncle to Sophia, Farah, Mila, Rory and Delaney. He was preceded in death by his niece Mallory Green.

To his family, Kevin was known as the proud "Poobah" - a title worn with love and a lot of humor. He held that role dearly for Alex Mendoza (Nikki), Alicia Alvelo, Kyle Kent, Eli Kent, and Claire Ortiz. He was also a cherished "Grand Poobah" to Bella, Sammy, Paloma, Cameron, and Anthony, who brought joy and laughter to his life.

Kevin worked for the United States Postal Service and later the Department of Human Services, dedicating much of his life to public service. He was a loyal Notre Dame Sports fan, a White Sox fan, and a lifelong lover of music - especially Jimmy Buffett, Brian Wilson, and Tom Petty.

He will be remembered for his steady presence, his dry wit, and the way he showed up for those, he loved. Whether you knew him as Poobah, Brother, Uncle, or Friend - Kevin made you feel like family. His legacy lives on in the stories we share, the sports teams we follow, the music we listen to, and the values he passed down.

Memorial Visitation Saturday, August 9, 2025, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Memorial Service 3:00 p.m. at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge. For Funeral info (708) 422-2700 or www.curleyfuneralhome.com
