Paul James Clifford

Paul James Clifford, age 81, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
Paul was born on April 25, 1944, in Sanford, Maine, to Richard Clifford and Anna (Smith) Clifford Greene. When he was young, his family moved from Maine to Maywood, Illinois, where he was raised. After serving in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970, Paul settled in Romeoville, Illinois, where he lived for most of his adult life.
After leaving the Air Force, Paul married Alice Bettermann on July 18, 1970, and later completed his bachelor's degree at Lewis University as they began their life together.
An avid outdoorsman, Paul found great joy in canoeing. He was a dedicated member of the Prairie State Canoeists Club, where he became a certified instructor and often led group excursions. He also enjoyed bowling and spent many years participating in local leagues.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Alice; his sons, Jim (Michelle) and Dennis; and his extended family, including sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Anna; his brothers, David and Bill; and his sister, Sylvia.
In accordance with Paul's wishes, there will be no wake or funeral service.
